What is wu wei?
The power of wu wei hinges on going with the flow of nature.
In whatever we do, there is an underlying principle that guides its development. If we can respect nature and go with the rhythm, we leverage of power of nature to get things done.
Wu Wei derives from the ancient Chinese Taoist philosophy. Despite being around for more than two thousand years, it’s getting increasingly popular because of its emphasis on balance between effort and ease, how we can work in harmony with the flow of life, and letting go of unnecessary struggle and resistance.
In today’s fast-paced, highly competitive, and demanding world, there is a tendency to work and push too hard to pursue goals and desires. It can lead to stress, burnout, and disconnection from our inner self and the natural world. Wu wei teaches us how we can regain our balance back so that we can bring out the hidden potential in us.
Wu wei is the key takeaway of Tao Te Ching, which literally means non-doing, or doing nothing.
“Do nothing, and leave nothing undone,” says Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching.
