tao te ching chapter 5Life is colourful and interesting.

But do not succumb to allures of things that we don’t really need, people’s remarks that don’t really matter, and pursuits that bear no significance to your center of life.

Focus is power.

The wise person remains unwavering to what is real to him and the calling from within the depth of his heart.   Give no attention to things that deserve not your attention.

You focus direct where your energy goes, and your energy deserves to go to the most valuable aspirations of your life.

The five colours blind the eye.
The five tones deafen the ear.
The five flavours dull the taste.
Racing and hunting madden the mind.
Precious things lead one astray.

Therefore the sage is guided by what he feels and not by what he sees.
He lets go of that and chooses this.
