Life is a matter of focus.

If your focus is on what you don’t have, you’ll always feel lacking. Feeling lacking is dismaying, because you’re always in the state of longing for something yet to be yours and will never feel happy.

What’s worse is that the habit of looking towards to what you’re yet to have is never ending. When you have got something you dreamed of, the happiness is short lived. Very soon your attention is switched again to something you are yet to have, and you are on a never-ending wild goose chase.

If you could simply focus on what you have – rather than what you don’t?

You are now grateful to what you have, and start to enjoy them. They are real!   Even when they are meagre — although most often are not — in comparison to sheering longing, you are truly rich!

“If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich,” says Lao Tzu.
